Got unexpained "access denied" troubles keeping people from your content? Go to admin/content/node-settings, and try the 'Rebuild Permissions' button.
If that doesn't work, see other ideas for access denied for visitors and access denied for admins.
Technical difficulties update: lost pages
Wow. This site truly is cursed. I have troubles here that I just don't have on any other sites I build. I suppose it's a combination of this being one of my earlier endeavors, as well as a guinea pig for all kinds of experiments. Oh, and I think the database's server once held a digital copy of the Nekronomicon.
Many recent nodes disappeared from the site. I have no explanation yet; I had not imported content or otherwise hacked the database, yet the nodes just aren't there.
This happened while I was traveling, so I was slow to catch it as well. I'm restoring things, and have added back lost pages from the Easy Drupal Admin Manual (though I'm also changing page URLs; many links will be broken for a short time longer). Other recent blog posts will also be restored shortly.
Very odd. The lessons, of course: back up data often and reliably, check your sites regularly, and don't host a database on the digital equivalent of an Indian burial ground.

Good luck with everything. I tried Zen and Zen starter for only for a minute, I really need to learn how to use it as a foundation to build other themes like yours.
Cool, I'm looking for some Drupal themes for a site I'm working on with a client. I've been hanging out at http://ThemeGarden.org, which is an excellent resource but I'd still like to see more of what's out there, I'll check out yours.

I don't have an answer for you, but just wanted to say I found your site through your signature in Drupal forums and I'm going through the same thing. I've only been using Drupal for a few weeks though. I'm hosting my site at http://HotDrupal.com (there's actually an AdSense ad for them on your page), which has servers built for running fast and opmtimized Drupal, so that might be one possibility regarding a host. The guy Steve there will walk you through things too.
Also, I like your theme. Which one is that? Is it possible to view-source and find out what type of drupal them someone's using?

My tech difficulties are (I think!) solved, with lost nodes re-introduced from backup. But the cause is a mystery. It could have been a problem with the server hosting the MySQL database, or a hack of some sort, etc., though I'm suspicious; something like that would have, I'd think, causes large-scale corruption or loss, not cherry-picked a few nodes for obliteration. But that's broad generalization. I don't know yet. ("Something really dumb I did" remains the prime suspect, unfortunately. : )
If any such troubles persist, an experimental switch to a Drupal-focused host may be in order, as you suggest. Thanks for the pointer; I hadn't heard of HotDrupal.com.

I will have an IE-capable Mac in hand VERY SOON now, and will tackle the theme problems once and for all. Until then, I'd avoid using the theme on a new site!
