Dumb mistake #27747: Wrong module version

Captcha's been treatin' me bad. Or so I thought. Looks like I was the one doing' Captcha wrong.

This site has lately been slammed by comment spam. That's okay, the Akismet module and service are flagging it as spam and keeping it off the site, but the "comment posted" moderator email notices are flowing in like an army ant column. (Hmm, I set Akismet to disable notices to the moderator, but they keep coming. Will have to solve that later.)

What was bugging me was that the spammers were obviously bypassing the comment posting challenge put forth by the Captcha module. No problem, as the Captcha Pack module offers a bundle of alternate riddles, tests, and other challenges; surely one of those would stop or slow the spam.

But I couldn't enable the Captcha Pack modules; they all said "Depends on: Array (disabled)", yet there's no Array module. Nor could I find Captcha-related mention of that problem in the Drupal.org forums or the Captcha-related modules' lists of issues.

Long story short: my troubleshooting identified the problem as a mistaken installation of Captcha Pack for Drupal 6.x on a 5.x site. That was it. I reinstalled, then noted in the Captcha Pack documentation that the Captcha module itself required updating to a later version. With those tasks done, things work as advertised.

Captcha and Captcha Pack, you're the hardest-working duo in the anti-spam business. Glad we're all buddies again.
